Ok, I know I'm being presumptious......but I'll throw this out there anyway.
Is there any way that we could change the rally date to either the 2nd weekend in Sept (12/13) or the 4th weekend in Sept (26-27) for 2015.
I was/am REALLY BUMMED that I couldn't come this year, but gotta take work when I can. That being said it doesn't look like she is going to change her date for her horse show in ID. I miss riding with my riding partner NancyG and seeing all ya'll.
Yes, Jeff and I are still going to Tellico in a couple of weeks for some riding. But it won't be the same.

I was bummed too.. didn't realize there would be no Nancy/Jeff/Blue until I got there.
Whatever everyone agrees to is fine with me. It's so far out, I can plan around it. There was even some talk of another location. Not just another TPTN campground, a whole different town on the NC side. That won't bother me either.
I am planning to attend the Fall Rally next year.

I never know what time I can get off work until a week or so ahead of time anyway.
It's fine with me to move it to accommodate a conflict.
I can move to another weekend.
+1 as long as it's not undecided for too long. So everybody can reschedule.
I'm ok with a change. If faced with a vote to move it to the first weekend or the last weekend, I would vote it moved to the last weekend in September.
For me, Earlier rather than later. More riding in less cool weather, less odds of Fog/rain and school, while kids don't affect my ability, others maybe, will earlier or later improve everyone's chance of attending..... As Bill Rockoff and I are largely performing work with the federal government, earlier separates us from the beginning of the fiscal year rush, but Bill can respond on his own opinion....
What's the weather forecast? (I understand some are allergic to rain?)
Which time frame has the least "Hardley" presence?
Personally, I have no preference.

Frank,

Frank, normally I'd say that bringing your sister to a Rally would be a Very Bad Idea. But knowing that she's your sister, she's probably quite capable of holding her own. On any number of levels.

You would be correct in that Rock....i have absolutely no concerns about bringing her to a rally with this bunch of ruffians.... she is capable on the road, on the trail AND around the campfire!

Ok, so I spoke to Wayne at Cherahala Cycle resort about dates for next Sept. Seems the weekend of Sept 12th is booked. So that only leaves the original weekend of Sept 19th or the weekend after of Sept 26. The 19th I definitely can not be there.
I would hate to confuse everyone by changing the weekends. So it's ya'll's call. If you chose the weekend of the 26th, then Jeff and I will be in on either late Monday or sometime on Tuesday. Depends on flights for me.
I know TMI.....but that's the ballgame for me. I truly missed riding with all ya'll. It was not the same last week at all.

Yep, I too am shooting for the 15th leaving late Friday or early Saturday.
we are planning on arriving at Cherokee NC monday.. ride to Pisgah tuesday, alpine coaster tuesday evening  then head to Rafter Rd wed - sun :drinks:
Rode the Alpine coaster in Duluth a couple of weeks ago. It's awesome.
I should be arriving wed 16th evening. A small group of us plan to paddle on sat at a local river like we did last year. Just hit the dragon on the dirt bike in July as well as the "Trail of the dragon" plus road 1396 miles of trails in CO and UT last week in the dirt bike
Unfortunately I won't make it this year. My broken ribs and scapula. Probably would be OK by then. But I'm going to be paying for 4 days of hospital and 4 1/2hr ambulance ride from hospital in Iron Mountain Michigan to Froedtert trauma ER in Milwaukee. My insurance will cover most of it but I'm sure my portion will still be a crap load. So can't afford it this year. But hopefully see everybody next year.
Have fun stay safe.
Dan
Getting to be about that time! I'm coming down Wed. :good2: Got the kwakker sorted out finally, probably ride that down. Anybody riding through Va early Wed get in touch.
Giantkiller Dan, what happened man?! rib injuries suck, hope you have a quick recovery.
Not exactly sure when I will arrive, but currently planning on Wednesday Morning.
Took a promotion at the day job and am cat herding about 12 hours a day.
Yah crashed my raptor 700. Got a little airborne unexpectedly. Over a small rise in the trail. And also was a 90 deg corner I didn't see. Braked hard caught a rut and next thing I know I'm flying around in the trees. Even if the ruts weren't there I would never have made the corner. Was going way too fast. When I stopped I couldn't breathe. Had to will myself to breathe. 6 or 7 breaths later as everything was getting dark around the edges. I finally could feel air going into my lungs. Heard my buddy slow down and then keep going. (Off in the trees to far didn't see me). My ATV landed wheels down on top of a bush. Was off the ground 3or 4'. Yanked it down (adrenaline is a great thing) got on and started riding one handed. My buddy was coming back by then. And asked if I was alright. And I said no I'm not. Then rode the 34 miles back to the truck one handed. With 7 broken ribs and a broken scapula on my left side. Truck ride to ER in Iron Mountain Michigan. They wanted to send me on helicopter ride to Froedtert trauma center ER. I told them I couldn't afford it. So i got 4 1/2 hr ambulance ride. Then spent 4 days in the trauma unit at Froedtert. Both of my lungs were "massively contused" so they were monitoring my blood ox levels. Stupid alarm kept waking me up the first 2 days.
Anyway glad to still be here. Just won't be able to afford to go to the rally this year.
Wow man! That sounds bad. I bet that was a long 34 miles riding with jacked up ribs and shoulder. Are you healed up other than financially or did this just happen?
Any way sorry to hear and take care of yourself for next year
Hi All!
I'm heading over to the ECFR this year and will likely arrive on Tuesday the 15th! I've ridden some of the roads in the area, but apparently missed a lot of the great ones! Well looking forward to knocking out some miles with the east coasters! :good2:
I figure I can at least just pitch my tent in the field at the campground without much worry...but does anyone find themselves in want of a roommate to split the cost of a cabin? Might be nice to *know* I'll be warm and dry under a proper roof for five nights!

Capt. Ron,
I'd be up for that, as I was looking at tenting it myself. Cabin sounds MUCH nicer. I have not called to see if any are available.
If you set it up, I'm in.
Steve
Nancy and I should be at Tellico this time next week (ie Monday afternoon). The Yeungling will be cold for all you "late arrivers". :yahoo:
Cap'n Ron, you are coming way out East to ride with us, instead of hooking up with Klavdy and the West Coast Gang that same weekend? Don't get me wrong, dying to meet you and all, but... are you sure?
There are no cabins left at Cherohala Mountain Trails for the weekend. (That's the one downside to this place, only a handful of cabins so far.) There may be some earlier in the week. Ducati(*) Dave will have a cabin to himself and is getting there earlier in the week, he might be amenable to sharing with ya (he's really great that way.) (*)He will now have to be called GTS Dave or Fazer Dave or Surprise-Bike-Yet-To-Be-Revealed Dave, because he sold all the superbikes and is temporarily between Ducatis, until the right MultiStrada coincides with the right circumstances.
For the first time in forever, I am planning to NOT take an FJ to the FJ rally. I'll be riding up on the 998 I bought last month from Dave, either Thursday evening or Friday. I live close enough to just tent it. I rode the 998 a while yesterday and accidentally went 2/3 of the way there.
I don't know when Stu is getting there or if he is trailering, or riding, Der Kommissar (his Falco.) Future step-in-law Paul is coming down from Louisville KY on a Ducati scrambler, I don't know what day. Andrew is coming in, probably Friday evening, possibly with a gal, possibly with another rally dog. Far as I know, they are trailering his 916. (He put a biposto tail on it, but I don't believe she has signed up for 6 hours across North Carolina on the back of a 916, twice.) Far as I know, they are also tenting at CMT.

Hey Bill!
Turns out there was just one cabin left so I grabbed it!
I am very sad to be missing the Renegade rally...Even seeing the K-man for his once every couple of years visit. That being said, I missed Boone 2012 by two days (just rode by on my way to Beaufort, SC)...and I vowed to get back to meet some of the east coasters. Will be great to get some rides in with you guys and swap campfire stories! See you in a week!
Geez, it sounds like there's going to be an awful lot of Yamahas at this Italian bike rally (popcorn)
So far I'm committed to being there, its just a question of when. Most likely going to arrive sometime Thursday afternoon. I'm dead-set on trailering in, and from the sounds of it, I'll need to pack my camping setup.
Its been a beastly summer since Boone. I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys again!

if anyone is in need of a cabin at the rally site, another cabin has just opened up. i've bailed and am now staying at the high rent district over on rafter road.
if anyone is in need of riding gear, i'll bring an extra aerostich suit, size 46S. the only issue is the first of two layers in the ass section is missing from when i went sliding down the highway.
I'll take it!

danny, hah, no, that one has a nice tear extending from the bottom of the arm vent down. hell, i'll bring that one, too. i'm talking about the hi-viz one. just some minor scuffs.
Dean, you look like Marq Marquez.
Nice photoshop on the background! Cool pic.
Hope the rally goes well. I'll be on travel next week for work.
Dean, as long as you're trailering, sure, maybe you could go on and bring it? Josh at work (bought Dave's original 916) might come up for a day or two. I think all he has is a helmet and inexpensive jacket. He's about Andrew's size so he could probably wear your spare 'stich over everything else he'll ride in. He is a fairly new rider (Ninja 500 last summer, 916 this summer) and I don't think he has done a lot of long days in the saddle. An extra Aerostich could mean the difference between "fun" and "freezing-ass cold and miserable."
If I wind up with your cabin (I will call in a few minutes) I could carry only one tent instead of two, and maybe have room to bring spare boots.
I have a work thing next week and can't get clear until Thursday afternoon. I will probably go home Thursday night and ride up Friday morning. In the past I have ridden to Tellico straight from work, but 1) the 998 just doesn't have the space to accommodate both a work week and a rally weekend, and 2) the ride from work to Tellico is not a great ride.
Can not wait.
- Bill
