I have a question to any of u guys about eliminating the key ignition switch and using a toggle switch.... I still want to keep the original key switch as it is the lock for the handlebars.. The way my bike is right now it could easily be hotwired... I want to remove the three wires out of the switch and relocate them to a hidden toggle switch... How would I go about doing that?....
no one knows????
I kind of like the ability to use a keyed ignition switch on my FJ, but how hard can this be?
Use a volt meter (or wiring diagram) to figure out which wire is the battery supply and which are the switched. Then get a toggle switch (perferrably waterproof) and put the battery feed wire on one side and the switched wires on the other. Make sure the switch is rated for the appropriate current draw.
A real easy and simple solution. This is a way to keep your ignition switch 100% functional, and give you the added security of the toggle switch.
Place a 2 pole toggle switch in a hidden place of your choice. The RED wire at the ignition switch is ALWAYS hot. Cut the red wire and splice more wire to BOTH of the cut red wires. Run the new wires to where the toggle switch is and attach one wire to each of the 2 poles on the switch.
The toggle switch now turns the power on and off to the ignition switch.

I like Fred's solution better than mine!
