Title: Whats the normal oil consumption?
Post by: keand3 on September 05, 2014, 04:17:44 PM
Hi guys, Im back!  :good2: :good2:
Well, acctually not.. been here all summer but haven't been so active on posting...  :dash1:

Okey, first things first. Whats's the normal consumption of oil on the FJ?

After my rebuild (106.000km) I had to refill something about 500ml after 1500km or 2000km or something in that aera... I dont remeber excatly at the moment, sorry.
Did a oil change after 3000 km (109.000km), and them I had to refilled 300ml at 113.400km..

I don't consider that to been any unnormal consumption, but would like to know what you guys experience?

The bike has sone gone 114.500 km, thats 8500 km (or 5 281 miles if u like) this season, and I am amazed that i have been driving that much!!  :greeting:
I haven't been able to have take those long trips I had hoped for this season, but I will try again next year.. (will be uploading photos later on)

Cheers

Ken

G'day,

I do not know of an exact figure, but I think the accepted norm is 300ml per 1000kms for older air cooled engines.  Cannot remember where I read that.  I think there are also many variables to take into consideration, oil type, viscosity, use, tune of engine, leaking gaskets, if Mars is in accendance, etc.

Mine uses around 300mls per 1000kms, give or take.
