Title: Brake lines for a 92 w/ABS
Post by: magge52 on September 03, 2014, 07:51:47 PM
The parts diagram I have shows 5 hoses connecting the ABS unit, m/c and rotors. I'm assuming all would be replaced for an upgrade? Can't imagine otherwise. Replacing with OEM line totals out about $350-400. Hopefully braided lines are less. Either way it looks like a long project. I think I'll make this a late fall project before the cold really sets in. I've bled the lines to the rotors but there's some mushiness. Could be the old lines but I didn't know if the ABS unit had to be bled. The service manual doesn't say anything about bleeding the system.

Here is a complete 9 line set from Galfer

Another option is Goldridge 6 line kit.

A lot of members have de-activated the ABS system and use standard brake lines. The following lines will work on your FJ if you decide to de-activate the ABS

I personally have this set on my 89'

Rear braided line.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the links Fred. Not much difference between cost of oem and braided lines. I've considered removing the ABS plumbing altogether, would save 25-30 lbs and it's not working anyway.

Thanks,
George
