Title: Sometimes you have to get to 9600...
Post by: racerrad8 on August 22, 2014, 11:40:12 AM
and 24 feet to get away from it all...

Plus, it was also great to wind the tach in 9600+ too.

So, my wife's birthday was this week so she and I took a trip east to our family cabin located near Clark Fork in the Stanislaus National Forest. This is a great place to go to get away...

No electricity
No phone
No internet
No people
Hot water via the wood stove
Cast iron pans on the wood stove
About 6500 feet above sea level and the air is crisp & clean

The sound of the wind rustling through the tall trees, here is the view from the front porch.

The middle fork of the Stanislaus River just a couple of hundred feet away

Here is the view sitting in my chair by the campfire

...it is an awesome place to get away from it all.

Cooking on coals every night and not a thought of "going out" for dinner as it feels great to relax as time seems to really slow down.

It is dark there, I mean dark, did I mentioned there is no electricity thus no light pollution. Once the gas lanterns are turned off and campfire burns out, the stars in the sky are just incredible.

I rode the 93 up so I could take a ride up the Sonora Pass so that I can have a little riding time too.

Here is a picture overlooking the valley of Leavitt/Brownie creek valley of the Toiyabe National Forest.

After this curve, the roadway you see in the bottom of the photo drops about 600-750 feet and the sign said a 26% grade, there was not any throttle required on that stretch of road going down, but it was 1st/2nd gear to the top.

It was great to get away, but when I returned the pile of work has grown significantly. You know what they say...it is great to be self-employed; you only have to work a half days...

Just pick which 12 hours you want to work...7 days a week.

But in reality, it was great to get away with my wife to celebrate her birthday without the every day stresses of life and be able to enjoy each others company with anything distracting one another.

Family first, because that really is the full time responsibility and 9600 feet keeps you focused on what is the most important.
