Title: Foam rubber for body panels
Post by: shockeymon on August 04, 2014, 04:16:24 AM
Foam rubber on inside of body panels dry rotted & falling apart. Does a replacement need to be heat resistant or fire proof or can I use any foam? I know some of the fabric stores carry foam rubber but any other suggestions appreciated

I found some foam at work, and used the footprints of the old adhesive on the insides of the side panels as templates to cut new foam pieces, then used spray contact cement to set/fix them in-place.

If you can't find foam handy at work or around the house, one of these may work for you from a nearby home improvement store. ..

Here's a link to the adhesive I used...

Available adhesive backed, good for up to 400 degrees and great for sound/Vibration damping.

Price per foot is not too bad. I have used this on projects in the past with good results.

McMaster has tons of other options for jobs like these.

Thanks already have the adhesive. I assume heat not a major issue.
