Title: Will an 87 stock FJ exhaust system fit an 89 FJ
Post by: JMR on July 29, 2014, 07:36:59 PM
Somebody asked me about the system I'm selling and I don't know for sure. I think it will but I prefer to ask and hear from somebody who knows for sure.

No, the cans' mounts are in a different spot between those two years. See my replies in the older post below. You're trying to do the opposite, older cans to a newer bike.

I never got around to making the "adapter" plates as mentioned (put a SuperTrapp on instead), but I think that it is relatively straight forward to do. Header pipes and collector under the engine will work between those years all right.

I used a complete 87 system on my 89. Stock headers, collector and suppertrap cans. I just bought some chrome exhaust tips from O'Reillys. And used them as extensions between the collector and the cans. And used the 89 mount for the 87 cans. The tips were perfect for the extensions.
