Bummer man. Looks like the bike will make a full recovery. Hope you fared better than the bike.

Very good Dan :good: A new Lockhart screen and a tail of the dragon tattoo...
You have a beautiful bike.
On the picture taken right after the killing...there is a shot of your fairing with little tufts of hair on it, did the fairing crack at that location? Other than the new screen did you have to do any fairing crack repair?
I see you lost one of your side scoop black bumpers but you found a new one.

All in all, you are a lucky man. Still amazing that you held on and didn't go down....How are you healing?

I recall about 12 years ago Henry Russell hit a deer, I think he literally cut it in half on his FJ...he went down and was hurt. The pictures he posted were quite gruesome. The EMT's who responded could not tell if all the blood was Henry's or from the two halves of the deer carcass lying in the road.

Many bikers have been killed by those critters....they seem to jump out of nowhere.

I like your bar risers, where did you get them?

Cheers  :drinks:

Yah Pat the whole fairing was smashed down on the left side couldn't turn too far to the right. The fur is sticking out of cracks in the plastic everywhere the fur is, is a crack. Thought the back of the bike made it. But then my wife pointed out some fur sticking out of the side panel in the back. The gauges were broke the headlight was broken. And the fairing frame was bent. Tabs on the frame were bent. Had a fairing shell and frame and headlight. But it was crooked too. Rebuilt the gauges, inner panels and everything else that was broken with plastex.

The risers I made with a belt sander and a jigsaw. Used the rings from the gixxer clippons. Aluminum bar stock. 11/2"x3/4",and 7/8"round bar

Dan,

I am looking forward to meeting you and seeing your Beautiful FJ next week.

I hope that you are feeling better. Great job getting the FJ back together. Still amazed that you stayed on the bike and didn't go down.  :drinks:

Here are a few photos of mine, 3 weeks after my rear ended incident. The Lockhart lower has been sanded and will need to be repainted before it goes back on. So the stock lower cowling is back on for now.

Fred, sorry to see your bike get rear ended, that's such a pretty bike with the bags and lower cowling.  I Hope your OK.   Just two days ago a driver ran a stop sign and pulled right out in front of me, I had to hit the brakes hard and swerve around him to avoid a collision. Too many people are in a hurry and just don't pay attention. Ride safe.  :sorry:  Barry

There is nothing worse than seeing an fj on it's side. Looks like you have it back good as new.
See you in a few.

I'm starting to think all those wild critters aren't scared of those shiny surgically clean bikes.  If you'd let a little road grime build up, maybe they'd be afraid of getting tetanus or something and stay clear!
