So, I have committed to upgrading to late model forks.
To this end, I have acquired:
Left and right fork legs
Wheel
Brake calipers
New pads
New bearings
As I understand it, I should be able to re-use spacers and speedo drive with no problem, and the fender and brace are also the same.
I still need an axle (I'm hoping to find that locally with no shipping) and brake rotors with mounting bolts.
I am thinking of picking up some used rotors from eBay. There are new ones from Hong Kong there as well, but given what I spent so far, am trying to avoid the expense just now, and I need to get this done as my original fork is leaking pretty badly.
Is there any pressing reason to avoid used OE rotors? Am I forgetting anything important?
OE rotors are just fine if they are in good shape. And as you know you need the later FJ rotors.

The new rotors from ebay, as low as $80.00 delivered, for the set. Why would you take a chance on used?

Cheapest ones I see are $150+$60 shipping for the set. That makes them $110 a piece. Used ones are $30 a piece with $18 shipping, making them $39 a piece.
Why would I take a chance on used? Why, because of the sorry state of my finances.
I don't see a 17" wheel on your list. Oversight? Or did you forget that? The 17" wheel is the entire reason for this upgrade.

:D
It's the next thing below fork legs. I didn't say it's 17", but it's the wheel that goes with that fork.
Wheel feels subjectively lighter than the 16" one. I'm going to weigh them when I actually do the work, I'm curious.

According to Rider Magazine, March 1989. Both the front and rear wheels are lighter than the 84'-87' wheels. Quote, "Both wheels are lighter and hollow cast".
Here is a front axle that will work. Only 89' and later axles will work on non-anti dive forks. There are a few other good bits that are in the add, brake rotor bolts to have on hand as spares when you strip the hex key center. We have all stripped a rotor bolt or two.
I know you state that you are on a tight budget, but.... IMO, rotors are like your drive chain. Only buy NEW, and the new rotors for your 17" wheel will also weigh less than the vented rotors. Here is a set for $73.00 each delivered.
