Title: Very Similar Boat to Shockeymon
Post by: Chemist92 on June 30, 2014, 05:35:06 PM
I'm also from PA (Hanover) and have a sad tale about an FJ in storage.  My first FJ was an 86 off the showroom floor, it was my 2nd bike, but life got in the way and I sold her 3 years later.  Speed ahead 8 yrs and I"m ready to ride again.  I start looking for a bike and I find the FJ mailing list, problem solved, good decision before and a good one now.  This is where you find out I'm an expat Canadian...so I find a 92 non-ABS in Kelowna BC and trek out from Edmonton to bring her home, June 9, 1998.  In 2002, I trucked her to Burlington, ON and then July 31, 2003 she was officially imported to the USA (after having he replace the speedo, because evidently 92 was the only year Canadian bikes didn't have KPH/MPH arghhh!).  Then after the 2006 season, life gets in the way, and for several years after putting Stabil in and added some fresh gas at times we come to today.  I kept saying I should just get rid of her but I couldn't, so about a month I've decided its time.  I  start looking on the internet to find out what she's worth and end up here, looking at all the information being shared and the passion for this bike...I go back to the garage and think...I could be retired in a few years (HOPE) and if I get rid of this bike it will be a huge regret. I have the airbox out and the tank off (1st time for me), new battery, oil change, air filter, I think the clutch slave is frozen and I'm leaking gas through the overflow...the carb 4 slide was stuck and still sticky...BUT I am happy.

I took the liberty of compiling all the hard work that andyb contributed as the Illustrated Carb Cleaning Guide and will post to the Carb Files to go with the non-illustrated carb cleaning.

Welcome to the group Clare.  :hi:

There are a few of us that were introduced to the Mighty FJ at a young age, only too Sell, crash, or store away the beauties. Then a dozen or so years later catch the bug again and the choice is made to resurrect or find another FJ as the only choice.

Welcome to the group !!!!!! Good for you on fixing her. Lots of help here tons of information. Not much to an FJ that someone here hasn't done or has knowledge of and willing to share. Try to make a rally sometime in the future, great bunch of riders.
