hi guys it's been awhile.
I removed the anti dive on my '87 fj1200, but everything else on the brakes is still stock.
I want to upgrade to braided ss lines. will a galfer front 3 line kit for an '89 fit?
I couldn't find anything in "search"
thanks,
larry
anyone? bueller?
Larry, I've hesitated on answering because I have no first hand experience with the Galfer 3 line kit.
On my 2 bikes, I've removed the line splitters and I'm running two lines down directly from my m/c. (two less banjo fittings that way)
Seeing as though no one is responding, I see no reason why that Galfer 3 line kit won't work on your bike.
You should be fine.
Thanks Pat,
I never thought of just running 2 lines...that seems like the way to go.
I assume you just measured what you needed and had them made?
Larry
I also went with a 2-line setup (from Spiegler http://www.spieglerusa.com/brake-line-kit-1572.htm (http://www.spieglerusa.com/brake-line-kit-1572.htm)) after disabling my Anti-Dive mechanism., In my opinion, it is a nicer way to go.
If you haven't already ordered the Galfers, you might want to check the Spieglers out. One key advantage I found with the 2 line setup, was the ease of bleeding the brake lines. With the 3 line setup, I kept running into issues with air in the lines. I would often have to let the bike sit overnight in order to let the air bubbles settle out (I suspect there was air in the 'line splitter' (manifold)). With the 2 line setup, the lines bled very quickly with minimal fuss.
Great! that's exactly what I want to do! :good2:
do you happen to know the size/ pitch of the banjo bolts that I need?
*edit... never-mind, I did a "search" and found it "The FJ banjo thread size and pitch is M10x1.25"
Actually, since you disabled the Anti-Dive mechanisms, you may already have what you need (so long as you didn't get rid of any of the banlo bolts). When I disabled my AD, I just removed the lower hoses, and capped the banjo ports on the AD units with screws from the hardware store. I moved the banjo bolts that went to the AD units to the calipers, and saved the dual banjo bolts for a rainy day.
When I installed my Spiegler brake lines, I didn't care for the color of the double banjo bolt they provided, so I used one of the OEM double banjo bolts that came from one of the front calipers.
ordered the 2 line from spiegler.
thanks for you help!
Gday, new here. Why remove anti-dive? Lose effectiveness, one less thing? How dou you do it?
Cheers, Slippere
