Hi guys, I have the 87/88 front wheel to do the swap, but it is about 1.5mm wider across the bearings, this is because the bearing spacer is wider than the FJ one, so can be easily fixed by swapping the spacers, just that I haven't seen this mentioned before and wonder if it's a usual part of the swap.
My memory is short but yes I believe you use the 88-87 wheel and the FJ axle, spacer and speedo drive. :good2:
George
Thanks George.
There should not be any clearance issues with the 87'/88' FZR front wheel. Use 88' or later FJ bearings and the inner spacer is the same part number for the FZR750R/1000 and FJ's. Off the top of my head, I would check to see if both bearings are completely seated into the rim.

Fred,
Thanks for verifying that. I know I have never read anywhere else that the FJ& FZR used different center spacers. I was just about ready to pull the front wheel off and compare it with the FZR wheel. I ought to swap it over this weekend, anyway.
Joe
Thanks for the replies, here's the two side by side. I can't verify the year of the FZR wheel I bought it from a motorcycle wreckers over the internet, but the bearings are the same as the FJ - 6302's
P.S. The FZR spacer is also 17mm bore so I wonder if it is from a later model, but the bearings and seals are the same in both the FJ and FZR wheel.
Buying used you never exactly what you are getting. Use the FJ spacer.
Kurt
That's what I was thinking, thanks Kurt.

Interesting and baffling.
I can't for them life of me think why someone would put a 17mm bore spacer between 2 15mm centre bearings?
The only thing that would make sense is if someone was using that wheel with a 15mm axle in a pair of forks with wider centre to centre spacing.

My bet is they bought an FZR spacer for an FZR wheel without knowing the difference between the "Genesis" and "EXUP" models
I too used the FJ spacer on my FZR front mod. Works just fine :good2:
I got a hold of an new FZR OEM spacer on eBay and swaped them out the next time I had the wheel of :-)
Cheers
