Stupid is as stupid does. Nothing more than an asshole....I couldn't help myself, I had to reply. And by the way, is there any talent there? Many can twist the throttle in a a strait at high speeds. And I will attest, I've known people his age that never returned because of similar "thrill rides".

Yeah i dont know.... He is just a kid, we have all done stupid stuff in our time me included. The important thing is that you learn from it and move on.

When doing stupid stuff, ensure that you don't get caught, turning it into exeedingly stupid stuff.

I only consider stunts like this stupid if they endanger people other than yourself. Some people consider motorcyclists stupid because riding them is dangerous. Is it fun? Heck yes! I raced a kid on a ZX 14 a month ago and banged the rev limiter in 5th. How fast was I going? I was too busy to check. We were not endangering others as there was no one else around. Was it dangerous? Heck yes and FUN! Was this kid having fun? Yes but he was also endangering other drivers and the police.  Kookaloo.  Dave

That's why you do a sighting pass before you go for serious numbers on the speedo.  The sort of sighting pass that would indicate the cop ready to pounce in this case.

I've seen the speedo wrapped pretty well around as far as it will go in every dash that i've owned.  Doesn't mean it has to be done in a dumb way :)  Correction:  My current car hasn't gone past 115 yet.  Had some gremlins to sort out, and am now just waiting for some time and a chance to go find a certain road, to see if 150 is really possible.

Agreed, time AND place...  While returning from the Gunnison Colorado Rally in '05 I wicked it up to 140 on this road in Wyoming.

For me, triple digits gets my brain pulling the Vulcan mind fuck... I ask myself ' did I get the axle nut torqued right' ' did I get the chain master link riveted correctly' that's about the time I roll off the throttle. For me, I get my kookaloo in the tight twisies. How hard can I get into this corner and how hard can I pull out and into the next corner... Whatever floats your boat but the idea of getting into trouble at triple digits, that's my rev limiter.

I'm with you Scott!  I have had my hands on every nut, bolt, gasket, brake line and bearing on the FJ...mostly, so I know things will be alright even getting close to the limits, but it still gets into my head...This, my friend is the keen sense of mortality that you and I have developed since we were in our 20's.

To me a long, twisty mountain road is the ultimate thrill.  It's a never-ending roller-coaster that I get to control the speed of and have an all-access pass to!!   :yahoo:

Made for a Hayabusa. It goes from 100 to 150 faster than an FJ goes 20 to 60mph.

For two more weeks I work for a company that makes wheelchair lifts for vehicles... Some of them refer to us MC riders as future customers... I don't see that as harsh or abusive, just a reality for some us that don't respect the risk we take for the enjoyment of the ride...

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather be leanin' than WOT.  It was just an opportunity thing at the moment.  I'm thinking this road was just outside the black hills.  Funny thing after this high speed run... Coming into town I tried to down shift and that's when I noticed my gear shifter was dangling!  The shifter bolt had broke.  I guess if that was the worse of it I'll take it.  I used a zip tie to get me home and ordered a new bolt.

The time I was considered dead at the scene by the paramedics. I was supposedly doing less than30mph. And was wearing a full leather suit and helmet.

Ha ha. Yah first thing I remember was 3 weeks later.
My neuro surgeon. Told me at a follow up several months later. That he was going through the intersection right after. And he pulled up to one of the paramedics who was directing traffic (cause the cops weren't there yet) and told them he was a neuro surgeon. Could he help? He said the paramedic turned and looked at me laying on the ground and said" there is nothing more we cando for this guy"
