Title: Friend of mine lecturing me how much better newer bikes are
Post by: Vsekvsek on June 12, 2014, 08:54:55 PM
In the same breath he was bitching about how his tire sensors where not working properly in his 2010 concourse and giving home false positive reads on low air pressure....and how its gonna cost $300 per wheel to fix.

Yeah ive battled with this myself, you could get a newer model bike for next to nothing these days but this bike is teaching me a lot so i think i will stick with this one for while longer.

its funny too because hes an auto mechanic turned aircraft mechanic working at Boeing and he doesn't even want to work on his concourse cept for small things. says its a nightmare.

it's weird how things work out. I know a couple of helicopter mechanics. One who seems totally clueless when it comes to automobile engines, and another who absolutely won't/can't work on a 50cc scooter engine. As for new bikes, like Scotty on Star Trek said "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."
I'd love a Concourse. But I can work on an FJ...And I don't think the concourse would be more fun, just different fun.

i rode his concourse. frankly i wasnt too keen on how much higher you sit up on it. The brakes where better but thats fixable. Frankly that was only difference I noticed.

"The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."

^^^^^ That is brilliant. Absolutely 'effing brilliant!
That's a great description of how I view a lot of modern machinery.
After the basic requirements are met, they just keep on going, adding complexity. :ireful:
