Title: Blown main fuze
Post by: aviationfred on May 10, 2014, 07:43:59 PM
On my ride home from work today. I pulled up to a stop light and the bike died and had no electric power at all.  :ireful: I pushed the bike through the intersection to an abandoned gas station. Removed the seat and found the 30 amp main fuse blown. Further inspection showed the wiring to the tail light connector completely burnt and all the wires exposed. I also found the cause... A previous owner had wired in LED glow strips which I had removed when I first bought the bike. I had left the wiring bundled with the rest of the tail light wires. One if the LED wires had shorted to the bike frame. I was real concerned that I had fried my LED tail light.

Luckily I was only 1/2 mile from the house, walked home, hooked up the trailer and got it to the house for repairs.

Once the wiring had been repaired the tail light and integrated turn signals still operate as they should.... :yahoo:
