Title: Sending Units
Post by: Burns on May 08, 2014, 02:37:45 PM
I'm fabbing-up a dashboard to carry some instruments (volts, oil pressure, oil temp) and have no idea where/how to mount the oil temp and oil pressure sending units.

Anyone here been there/done that?

All suggestions deeply appreciated.

Here is the oil galley adapter needed for the sending unit mounting for the engine.

If you get a couple of Randy's galley adapters you're all set for mounting the senders. Then it's just getting your wires up to the triple tree.

Here's my Mark I panel http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=7691.msg100487#msg100487 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=7691.msg100487#msg100487)

And here is the Mark II http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=7691.msg101945#msg101945 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=7691.msg101945#msg101945)

I'm currently working on the Mark III panel.  :wacko2:

A million dollar CB engine no less.... :good2:

Hey Mike, re: oil pressure gauge: at idle on a hot engine, how much oil pressure does your gauge show?
I bet it was alarming the first time....

That's a good question Pat....not very much at all. The oil pressure gauge is an electric sender unit which makes it a bit less accurate than a good mechanical piece BUT regardless it is low ( like 10 or 15lbs if lucky) when that oil is hot and thinned out. I just started the FJ today for the first time this season and it goes to 75lbs when cold with 20-50W.
