Rode the bike to work a few weeks ago, the kids had one car, the wife needed my truck. I noticed that the throttle twist raised the RPMs but I was not going faster.... Crap! Weeks before the WCR and I have a Shitty Clutch. So I call my best FJ mechanic Randy and discuss the issues. Sort out that I don't have an OEM clutch. The fibers don't look stock, reddish brown. They seem to stick a lot.... New steels, new fibers and the RPM Roller Shift Detent Kit (http://www.rpmracingca.com/products.asp?cat=39&filter=roller). The change back to an OEM clutch and the shift kit was awesome. The clutch is no longer clunking into gear when cold, butter smooth shifts. I can now get my Kookaloo on (not as much in 2nd gear under load, bad 2nd gear!) and enjoy the ride to the WCR. It would have really sucked to discover this during a 1,600 mile ride... Randy, thank you for the shift kit...
That is the worst fiber plate that came out, it galled the steel it touched... Poor bastard...

Good deal, on finding the problem and getting it fixed. Having that happen on the way to a rally would suck. Butter smooth shifts are a good thing.

Good that it was an easy fix :good2:. Crap always happens when you close to a planned event.... Pressure is on..
I also did the roller shift kit a few weeks ago. Shifts more like a Japanese bike should. Especially noticeable in down shifting. Smoother more positive and less grinding of gears.

IMO it is worth doing if you are in the area for a clutch repair or mod.
