Title: So i'm hoping to buy this as my second bike.....
Post by: faser41 on May 04, 2014, 08:18:36 AM
Hello all, will know later this morning if she's mine, but in the meantime I'm hoping to make this beautiful low miles 1986 FJ1200 a stablemate with my 2009 FZ-1 (my 3rd FZ, the other two were stolen a few years apart. This FJ has been meticulously cared for by it's second owner, who bought the bike from his good friend in 1990. The bike now has just over 20k miles total. I could only offer a check when we met yesterday as the banks were closed, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the other buyer flakes and is a no show this morning-so that it will be mine! This looks like a great forum and I'm a long time member of two other most excellent moto forums so am looking forward to joining an informed and fellow group of riders. :drinks:

Welcome to the asylum, with or without that really nice looking 86'. It already has a a few nice mods, Corbin seat, Supertrap exhaust. Don't keep us hanging on the edge of our Corbins....

Sorry it took me so long to get  back, off to work now but happy to say that the bike is mine and I am only the 3rd person to ever ride it! Here is a shot with my FZ1 in the backround checking out who the intruder is.......just bad luck on the other FZ1's being stolen, it happens a lot to bikes in the Bay Area that are not secured in a personal garage.....

Nice looking FJ! Great purchase! Have you given any thought to attending the West |Coast Rally coming up at the end of the month in Willits?

Welcome to the group. :hi: Great looking 86'.

Attending the WCR in Willits would be an accelerated learning curve for knowledge on your FJ.

faser,
Welcome to the forum! Glad to see you made it over here from the FZ1 forum.  All you need to know is likely already in a thread or file here.

If and when you need parts for your FJ this is all you need www.rpmracingca.com (http://www.rpmracingca.com)

Hi Derek, I sure have and will see about making reservations at a hotel when I get home from work later today. I did read the thread already, and it sounds most excellent. I definitely want to install a new and better set up on the whole front braking system and am really looking forward to making friends on this website. I want to make the FJ as awesome a ride (goes without saying of a different quality) as my beloved FZ-1 and I can tell by the engine and the level of comfort I have riding it that this is a given!
