Newbie (Dan)checking in here, just joined up and can't wait to meet. I have to work a short day Friday and I read the first thread so went ahead and made reservations at the Old West Inn--last time I was at the KOA in Willits I walked from the hotel. Was way drunk anyway lol so all for the best. Not sure who will be there but i'll stop by first and look for any FJs and introduce myself before checking in at the motel---it's only a couple of miles away.

So I have booked a tent site #56... It will just be myself this year. Want to show off my 'moditus' after I caught the bug last year.

Yep, same here...it's about 780 miles for me from Palm Desert to Willits via Hwy 395 and over Moniter Pass.

A bit shorter if I took the coastal route, but the Sierras are a calling me.... :drinks:

I tried to work in Monitor Pass either on the way up or back on your recommendation (rode Mono Highway on the way home last year)...I'll definitely get up there sometime!!

Since I'll be that far north in Willits, I figured I'll do so some visiting post rally. The initial plan looks like this:

After last years WCR, Paul and I rode close to that same loop...except we went further east in Idaho and dropped down thru Jellystone....spent the night in Jackson Hole, had several brews while sitting on the saddles in the Silver Dollar...

You should try and extend your Utah loop further east...there are some jaw dropping rides in the eastern side of Utah. Who else will be riding with you?

Alas, my infrequent consulting work dictates that I need to return on Tuesday following the WCR.

I'm visiting with friends and family along the way and likely riding solo. Excellent idea! I have been to that area (by car) and sat on those same saddles in Jackson Hole...The Grand Tetons are spectacular!! If I have extra time, I just may do that!

Sorry to hear about Mike and Tina not being able to be there. That is a bummer. Things happen I hope all is well. I just about scrubbed off two times but issues have resolved themselves so far.

It was tough call. May still try to catch you in Boise George. This is easier to talk about digitally... my son will be ok, buy he had a heart attack and between the unexpected cost of travel and helping him out the rally was something we decided to cut out. SHIT!
He is only 31. He got a couple of stints and is back home today. Probably back to work (a new job he just started) Monday. Modern medicine is amazing. There was some heart damage but the doctors says he should be damn near 100% maybe better with the improved circulation. My son is a gym rat.
The rally is shaping up to be a good one, wish I could be there. Everyone have fun and meet the fast guys at lunch :bye:

Sorry folks, but I unfortunately now have to bow out. Long story short, unexpected repair and insurance bills cut deep into my summer fun money this past weekend. Unfortunately, I now have to do the fiscally responsible thing, and bow out of both my big trips.

I'm very disappointed that I won't be able to meet you all in person at this years rally, but hopefully next year things will work out.

All packed! Leaving in about an hour to drive to Victoria. From there we take the ferry to Port Angeles WA. Will be in Monterey Monday and Willits by Wednesday. Can't wait to get there. Its gonna be a great rally!

I'm also bringing a mystery guest... well Randy has met him, but he's new to the group and still only lurks here. Add another Dan to the mix. We'll be trailering up early Friday morning (can't come earlier due to daughter's HS graduation Th night) and hopefully will make it in time to join the group ride Friday. If not, we'll make our own fun Friday and see you all Friday evening.

Mike sorry to read this hope all is good with your son, I also had to miss this yrs rally with mum being sick and passing away the end of April it placed a huge financial strain on all activities, looks like everyone had fun :-)
