When you switch over to the UNI pods instead of the air box do you have to go with a jet kit? Can you get away with shimming the needle and leave it alone? Any information appreciated.

I installed UNI pods without having to alter anything to my carbs :good2: Everything meassured out just fine so there was no need to... Got lucky I guess (as one do with a ambulance FJ :rofl: )

On mine I turned out the fuel air screws 1/2 turn and I raised the needle 1 notch. Still have the 112.5 mains.

When I installed the uni pods I upped the pilot jets from a 38 (stock) to a 40. I'm still running the stock main jets. Runs fine here in Va. HTH

Well, the jetting change is really only known after the installation of the filters. If you are in an area where your bike might have been a little rich it might be just fine with the better flowing filters.
No, a jet kit is not required for any FJ, the carbs can be effectively adjusted and dialed in using stock parts and different jets.
99% of all FJ's benefit from bumping up one pilot jet size to the 40's regardless of what air filter you are running. The shimming of the needle, idle screw & main jet adjustments will have to be sorted after you get some miles on the bike to determine of you are now experiencing any running or performance issues.
