Title: Victoria, Australia New Law
Post by: aviationfred on March 31, 2014, 07:47:17 PM
Is this a reality for those that are in Victoria?? Or is this an April Fool's Day Joke??

HELMET NUMBER PLATES INTRODUCED
Victorian motorcyclists will need to display a front number plate from next month onwards, under new laws passed by the Victorian Government last night. Motorcyclists will need to visit their nearest VicRoads branch by 30 April and print out an envelope-sized sticker (at a cost of $19.95) – which they will need to attach to the front of their helmets. Victoria's top traffic cop, Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill, said bikers have been getting away with speeding offences for way too long, claiming that 61 percent of bikers caught speeding by CityLink cameras escaped a fine because of the lack of front number plates. Will you buy a sticker or run the risk of a $900 fine?

With governments, you never know, but I think it's an April Fools. Putting a number on a helmet licenses the helmet, not the vehicle.

I can see it now..."Hey mate, I need to check my jetting, mind if I borrow your helmet?"

As bullshit as the story in Superbikeplanet.com that Ben Spies is coming back to racing.
