Title: Got my kookaloo this evening.
Post by: TexasDave on March 31, 2014, 01:34:09 AM
Was sitting at a red light on the FJ when a young man pulled up beside me on a custom painted sport bike of some type. He gave me a nod and pointed strait ahead indicating he was game if I was. Well there was no traffic and I'm old enough to know better, but after all I'm still 18 in my mind. Even though I am running a 18/42 this kid was at least 100lbs heavier than me and made his bike look small. When the light turned green he pulled away and was still pulling away when I banged the rev limiter in 5th. It wasn't even close. When I caught up with him at the next stop light about 2 miles away he had a big grin on his face. I asked him what the %X&## is that thing? Kawasaki ZX 14 was his reply. Had to google it when I got home. Fastest production motorcycle on earth. Insanely fast. Intercontinental ballistic missile fast. I know I don't need one and I am glad I did't own one at his age. Guess I'll stick to the good ole FJ. Dave    :flag_of_truce:

Reminds me of the early '80s while on my way home riding my 1976 KZ750. It was late evening and hardly anyone on the road. While at a light, a flat black, unbadged motorcycle pulled up next to me and reved it up. When the light turned green, we took of, and of course, he left me behind. At the next light, he nodded, and same thing happened. At the third light, he turned to me and asked "You know what this is?" I told him "Sure, that's a Kawasaki Z1R." He then asked "Why are you racing me then?" I told him it was because it looked like he could use the thrill. We both grinned and rode off easy..

I know it's childish, but if know ones around, then it's always on for a bit of a race.
Young at heart, stupid of head maybe.
Oh well
