Last night I rebuilt the carbs on my 87. You may remember that it has been sitting for at least 12 years. Boy, the gas was nasty.
I used my ultrasonic ammo case cleaner to clean up the parts. I also installed everything that rpmracing sells for these carbs: Complete kit with all new jets, needles and emulsion tube, new socket head cap screw kit, o-rings and some nice new uni air filters replacing my old K&N pods. Don't look at the rest of the filthy pig, focus on the shiny carbs!

Brian, I see that you are using a fuel filter and routed over the two down tubes that feed the carbs. This may cause some issues with fuel delivery. Have you run this configuration for any length of time under varried riding conditions and fuel levels?
The carbs look great!

I havent been running it much at all. Do others put 2 fuel filters on each input to the carbs?
The 84 to 87 are gravity feed and did not come with filters. The petcock has a filter in the tank. They are an added restriction that gets progressively worse as they fill up. The line routing causes two possible problems. The line routing around the top of carb #3 is intended go under both down lines, this lowers it to line up properly with the down angled fitting on the petcock. If routed over one or both lines, the upper line will push down on the line under it crushing it some and restricting it. This then forces the fuel line on top to turn downward and then back upwards to fit on the petcock and will kink at the petcock. Trust me, I know how frustrating a fuel delivery problem can be. The first day rally ride in 2013 was not very fun :dash2: :dash2: :dash2: , the second day was a blast.
Brian did you keep the Carbs stock after cleaning them and adding the pod filters?
