I took the chin scoop of my 85 as soon as I got it 3 yrs ago, there were about 5 pieces. I have decided to get a plastic welder. The chin scoop looks like ABS as well as the fairing. I am not sure what the inner parts of the fairing are made of....the pieces that mate up to the tank and have mess in them, has anyone welded these inner panels before? Thanks.....Bob
The panels that fit between the main fairing and the fuel tank are also ABS plastic. They are unpainted bare ABS. You should have no problem plastic welding them back together.

Thanks Fred
I will take some pics and pass them along. I am anxious to get this thing back together in one piece.

Hey where are you at with this... ? Just curious.. I welded most of the fairing peices back together for mine. It took some patience but it came out great.. My belly pan was way to badly damaged, I salvaged what I could but I am thinking I am just gonna bite off a $100 bucks and buy the brand new ones they have on Ebay.
Hi Dracko, I am in Southern Maine. I used to be a welder / fabricator so I thought the plastic welding might be fun to try. Watched a bunch of video on youtube and there sure are a bunch of different ways to weld this stuff. Are you missing big parts to the belly pan?
Regards
Bob
