Title: FZR 17" Not for the faint of heart
Post by: winddancer on March 15, 2014, 03:46:19 PM
Well lets start out by saying if you are going to change to a 17" rear wheel study, study, study. I had just read that the FZR wheel can be used and I liked the look compared to the others, so I found one for a good price on fleabay and bought it and a crush drive. then I found some Avon 3D Ultras for 238 and free shipping both arrived about the same day so I had them mounted and balanced. I found the problem when I went to install the rear wheel as anyone who has done one knows it is too big (that's what she said :rofl2:). So I hit the forums and Google it and found out that it has to milled down  lucky for me i have a drill press, mill vise and end mills so i have spent the last 2 day milling all the parts and fitting them on the bike. I took it for a test drive today and all i can say is damn that makes a difference. I did find out why i had no back brakes found the banjo fitting broke at the master. I will say if you do this upgrade to take it to a mill shop it would have been faster and easier.

I hand ground mine to fit.
It takes some effort, but the pay off was huge!
