Title: Fairing Ducts
Post by: Ront on March 01, 2014, 06:01:36 PM
The '86 fj1200 I just bought has the scoops in the fairing but the ducts are missing.  Will it overheat? Thanks

I personally would not ride mine without the ducts in the summer time.

The part numbers for the ducts are the same for all years.

The ducts carry moving air to the top of the center two cylinders. While you are moving air is also pushing into the top of the engine from the front and out the vents next to the tank and every other exit it can find. Personally I would not worry about the vents unless it is hot and or I was pushing the engine hard. I would source a set ASAP just to be safe. Maybe Randy will comment, he knows these engines really well and what cooling is critical. As a legends racer he runs these engines at red-line for 20 laps, now that is producing a lot of heat.
