I've been looking at this one a bit, but the listing states that the forks are damaged/bent, and the bike it came from was crashed.  When forks on the FJ's are damaged, are the upper's the part that usually take the brunt of the damage?  From what I understand, I would only need the lowers to complete the mod.  Upgrades weren't really in my plan to bring the 1100 out of it's two year hibernation this spring, but I DO have to replace the tires anyway....

Thanks,
Alex

Yes, all you need is the lowers and use your tubes. That is a good price but verify that the lowers are not damaged. Or jump on them and hope for the best. The tubes are what usually what bend.

If the bike has been ridden with the fork tube(s) bent, the lower bushing usually galls the inside of the slider damaging it.

I just built a set of forks for turbocamino and he had that issue, bent tubes & internally damaged lowers. Everything went into the scrap bin and replacements were purchased.

I'll let this one pass then.  I didn't even know that kind of damage was something that happened, but it makes complete sense.  There's still a lot of money I need to spend to get this thing back to a safe, roadworthy condition (anyone interested in some 30yr old brake lines?) without spending on parts that may be unusable for my purposes.  Thanks for the info!

Alex.....As Randy said.....but note the bit I highlighted in red.......if the bike was not ridden after the crash, you may find that the lowers are ok.

The soft spot on the stanchion tubes is right below the lower triple clamp.
That's where I've seen tubes bend....but you never know.

I've still got a good set for sale.  UK though so postage would be steep.

It wasn't me, but hopefully the new owner gets usable parts from the set.

I can only imagine how outrageous that would be to ship across the ocean.
