Hi folks,
Rusjel, or Russell. I've owned one '88 shiney black and a couple of '92 Blue and silvers.
I got into FJs as a uni student and my three bikes FJ took me all over Australia. My Black one was sold in Darwin with I think, over 190k on the motor and still going strong.
My last 92 was painted black with a Patriots Australia, CMA logo on the tank and a southern cross on both flanks.
I did a few IBA runs on those bikes, have fond memories of them both and wouldn't mind seeing them again if the owners are on here.
Recently some of the guys on an Aussie FJ mailing list poked their heads up to see who was around and I responded. I've had some great days riding with these blokes and it was good to hear from them again.
These days I'm riding a Blackbird and Triumph Tiger, but haven't ruled outgetting another FJ, especially when they become eligible for club rego!
I'll mainly be lurking if that's o.k, will chuck in the odd comment too. After all, everyone is entitled to my opinion!

Welcome, just liking the FJ earns you the right to join our digital campfire, bullshit and tell lies about how fast you were. You are among a few here that had an FJ but still enjoy the quality of people they attract. Kookaloo mate.

You're right, Micheladas are normally served with a small snack like spicy nuts and chips, sometimes with tiny shrimp and cucumber slices. Good catch on that one.... :sarcastic:

Its funny. The way technology is changing and there so many features and electronics I see a bunch of people actually flocking back to these older simple bikes. My friend is a car mechanic and has a new concourse 1400. He said theres so many wires and things are tucked in so tight theres only certain things he will even work on.
I was in a bike shop last weekend and some the "new" bikes on the showroom had a very retro look to them(including air cooled) for being brand new. For a fraction of the price you can get a proven FJ. If you can find one that is.

I was especially proud of the second 92 as we built it up from an engine ( thanks John M) a wiring loom and other bits obtained online, rolling Chassis courtesy of Victorian Tony and fitted to the motor by Arnie and I. In all I think there are seven wrecked or blown up FJs represented in this bike which went on to IBA runs and the Darwin - Alice run in 12 hours. That's almost as good as 12 parsecs!

I have some photos on numerous rides with Arnie, John, Jan and Top Cat from WA and the Victorion blokes Tony and Matt.
It was a bloody good time of my riding life and yes, the idea of having one in the shed again is attractive. However, the new bikes are just so good it would be impossible to 'just' have an FJ now.
