Title: Carb Hoses
Post by: Ront on January 24, 2014, 08:57:03 PM
Hi   I just pulled the carbs on my fj1200 - There's 6 hoses off the bottom of the carbs - I know that 4 are drain hoses- Does anyone know what the other 2 are for?  Also how do I route the hoses when I put the carbs back on?  They were all loose hanging off the side on the engine. Thanks

Actually, the 4 small hoses are air intake for the choke curcuits, the 2 larger are overflow. they route down the back rhs, between the back of the crankcase and in front of the swingarm. There is a small wire elongated D shaped bracket that all 6 hoses run thru down there.....its a bugger of a thing to get at tho.

Be careful to not get the hoses pinched. If you pulled the carbs off you might want to replace the rubber O rings that go between the intake manifold and head surface. They are cheap and easy to to.

I have a friendly amendment to Harvy's info....the 2 larger hoses serve as air vents for the carburetor bowls to keep the bowls at atmospheric pressure. They do become overflow hoses when you have a stuck float and the carb bowls flood.
As George advises, you do not want to pinch the lines.
