Greetings!
I'm a Brit but I've just landed in Australia for six months of work and lots of motorbiking. Last time I was here, I rented a bike - it was expensive and the bike was a piece of c**p. So, this time I decided to buy something and by chance settled on a 1985 FJ1100 with 100,000km on the clock.
I ride a FJR at home so I figured that the grandparent of my own bike would be a good bet.
I collected her from Canberra on Wednesday then rode to Penrith for a couple of days work servicing, replacing etc. Sunday and Monday I rode over to Adelaide where I'll be for about five weeks. Here's a pic of the grand old lady on the Hay Plain on Sunday. It was well over 40 degrees!

My (far) better half, Caroline, is joining me in Melbourne mid-Feb then we're heading off to Tasmania for two weeks before being in Melbourne for a month - one weekend will be at Jindabyne for the Rally. Hotel already booked! April sees us in Sydney and then Byron Bay at Easter for the Blues Festival. After that the road trip really begins and we will complete the lap of Australia back to Melbourne for mid-June.
We are very fortunate.
I'll make a photobucket album with what I have done to the bike and post the link on here once I get myself organised.
Cheers
David

You call that work? Where do I apply?
Welcome David, after the sportier ride on that 85' you might upgrade your ride at home.
Welcome Dave. Nice looking bike. Keep the pictures and stories of your OZ adventure coming. :good2:

Welcome David,
Fabulous looking bike and sounds like you have a great adventure all lined up. :drinks:
Congrats!
Looking forward to the pics. Even with 100K, the bike looks in tip top conditions (I envy your front scoop).

It was pretty bashed up but my friend, Pat, did a great job piecing back together. It does look better with it. I've always wanted to respray my FJR in these colours - the best Yamaha ever did
I've started a photobucket album of pics from my trip.
It's at: http://s906.photobucket.com/user/pevers_photo/library/Australia%202014 (http://s906.photobucket.com/user/pevers_photo/library/Australia%202014)
Most of them are the work done on the bike last week.
Nice looking bike :drinks:
Welcome and a nice looking bike you got there...
I might just have to move to Austraila for work... Traveling, worm weather, bike year round.... :good2:
Cheers
