g'day folks, went for a short ride today, anyway i was at a stop sign looking right and bang , this stupid idiot crashed into my backside, i was just taking off, he went thru the stop sign, , oil everywhere after the brake pedal went thru the clutch cover, the other little cover near it was busted and 1/2 of it missing , the right scoop is all busted up and other things aswell, anyway im a bit sore but no real damage but am getting stiffer by the minute.. lucky no one was coming on the right, i would have been in real trouble,, anyway , i walked away from it but with the adrenaline flowing the vet (from the brighton vet shop) had to calm me down ,,, i came within an inch of knocking him into next week,, seems almost surreal now, anyway take it easy, ken
Good to hear your ok.
this is my absolute biggest fears of street riding. I have seriously almost thought of giving up street riding because of it and just go back to dirt bike riding only I live in a wet area and have had people slam into my last vehicle totaling it. It doesnt take anything for someone to be looking at their dam phone and not pay attention for a split second before its too dam late. Slamming on their brakes will just speed you up if you slide. People just dont get this. Everytime I come to a stop light I watch like a hawk behind me. I still struggle with riding street because of it. :dash2:
thanks vsekvsek, i too alway look behind me aswell,,,, but when he hit me i was looking down the road to my right to see if anything was coming so i could get going,, i can understand you thinking about dirt only, this is the second time in 2 years were ive been belted by twits who appear to have their eyes painted on, cheers ken
Holy sh_t Ken.......well brother I am happy to hear your ok....the bike is fixable....and sounds like you will be doing the Frankenstein for a week or so...... good news that it wasn't worse....make sure you tilt your head up and say thanks...if you believe He was watching over you that is...if you don't...I will.....no worries. And here I was thinking about our experiment with the blindfold......my first though was that you got home....threw on the blind fold....and stuck you head into the freezer....when suddenly your dog came up from behind and bit your ass while you were shaking...but anyways........it obviously wasn't that.....so.....get well and get your bike ready for the Big R in Snowy Riva...........I will bring some Jose Cuervo gold and we can do a few shots and celebrate what didn't happen !!!!! :drinks:
CanDman
Ken, sorry to hear that you got clipped at a stop sign, but very glad you can tell us about it. Keep us posted as you heal. From what you posted it seems it was the Vet that hit you? Cheers.

+1 . I often count drivers looking at their phones while I wait in traffic. The highest I've gotten so far is 10 in a row that were not looking at their phone as they drove past me. It's usually more often around every 4rth or 5th car if u no wht I mean.
Glad you weren't hurt too badly Ken. Yes bikes can be fixed but it still sucks.
yep, never stop at those stop signs.

In Mexico, if you stop at a stop sign, you will get rear-ended... The rules are not the same..... Keep moving to save your ass....
Glad to hear you are OK. The bike is fixable. Getting hit from the rear has always a big concern with me. Had a co worker in a center lane down in Salt Lake on a BMW RT and a car to his right side at a stop light. A semi truck hit the car next to him straight on in the back almost at full speed, killed the driver. Sacred the shit out of my co worker. His comment to me was if a semi truck can't see a car in front of him at a stop light what chance do I have ?
Not often but once in awhile I will see someone blow right throw a stop light at full speed as if the light was never there. You just have to take care of yourself.
I am really glad you are not hurt to bad.
George
As long as your OK Ken. Hope the bumps heal fast.
Hey Ken
Glad to here your ok
Still F#%kin frustrating though ha.
Darran
thanks for the kind words, hips a bit sore, and both hands aswell but i feel pretty good considering,
fjmonkey, i probably didnt word it right, i got hit outside the vet clinic and the vet came out after he heard the bang. it was a tradesmen in a hurry to get home after a days work.
ive been thinking if there was anything i could have done to avoid it and apart from not stopping nothing comes to mind.
i got a $220 fine only a couple of days ago in the mail for being 13k's over the speed limit in the car so i was being a law abiding citizen. ken
Heal well and fast Ken.

Hear that Darran......another damn carpenter.......doesn't look good on us at all.......Ken.......on behalf of Darran and myself.....and all tradesmen with their eyes painted on......fuuuuck .....we're sorry !!!
in 1978......I was 15 years old and on the back of my brothers Honda CB 350......it was raining and we were heading to Lindsay to visit our cousins. For some reason My dumb ass (older) brother was going West instead of East......well..... we were on Hwy #7 at the top of Hwy 404 waiting at a stop for the light to turn green......well for some reason I decided to look behind us and saw a Camero heading at us at light speed and she was only 50 yards away....I thought to myself.....this isn't good......when the driver(female) finally hit the brakes she just slid right into us at about ??? I don't know.....35-40 mph.........Bang........the impact launched the 2 of us through the intersection and we came crashing down and then the bike on top of us. We were pinned and people were running towards us with blankets and umbrellas......the lady was a mess....absolute Hysterics (which didn't help)...we laid there n the ground in the rain and waited for the ambulance to arrive......they rushed the both of us to York Central Hospital. Other than a few pulled muscles and bruises we were both able to limp away from the whole thing. The 2 bars of the back rest were bent back 90% from the impact and my back sometimes gives me a little reminder once in a while. Thank God I became a framer and my back muscles quadrupled in size and doesn't bother me at all (as long as I am working)....if I am off for a few winter months ..it get a little squishy and it can bugger me...but that's my story.....my rear ending story..and the only one I have.....sorry Klav .... :mocking:
Get well soon.... :drinks:
Kev

Apologies Mate! Glad ta hear you`re okay. Catch ya soon. :drinks:
Not good Ken, minding your own business and BAM. Did you get the cops involved? I would have so these simpletons have to to answer for their stupidity.
I had someone rear end me on the FJ many years ago as well, again, they left their braking way too late, screech BAM. I stayed upright, and the only damage to the FJ was a broken dovetail/brakelight. Couple of young blokes and they were scared shitless when I got off the bike and walked quickly back to their car to ask them why they didn't stop, lol. I didn't heed my own advice above and call the cops as the damage was relatively minor, plus they paid for the new parts/repairs and gave me an extra $150.00 as well. All worked out ok.
Hope you get that FJ of yours back to pristine condition soon, and you don't ache for too long, :good2:
Sparky Mmmm
One of the Generals mates .
Probably to busy counting all the money he made on the last job :wacko2:
lol, i hope he was counting lots of it cause he insisted on taking it to teamoto at ennogra, they will hopefully call us this arvo, i dont think he will be pleasantly surprised,
ray, we did call the cops but after waiting 1/2 an hour we left, my wife called them last night and they recommended i go in but having said that , if he gets a fine thats less that can go towards the bike, if he starts getting a bit "i cant afford it" i will go in. he seems genuine so i will give him a chance.
Ken...sorry to hear of your misfortune. Make sure your back & neck are OK before you agree to settlement, they sometimes don't hurt until later. I was hit from behind while setting in traffic in my car in 1984 and got very little compensation. My neck degraded through the years because of that and in 2009 I had to have 3 neck vertebrae fused together. It's been a royal pain through the years, it still is and has cost me a fortune. Best wishes to you sir.
Louie
Ken,
Glad to hear you are o.k. :good2:
Let us know if you need anything....hope your new sparkie mate comes good and it all works out with you back on the road again soon
Rob
gday Louie, sorry to hear about your neck and i hope it doesnt get any worse, it's certainly food for thought, at the moment im gambling that my bike will be fixed to my liking without having to up the ante so to speak .. things are still unfolding at the moment,
thanks rob, so far so good, lets see how things are after we get a quote
Ken....not good mate!!!!
Give me a shout - I have all the parts you need to get back on the road.
Harvy
cheers Harvy , Pm sent
Ken...I'm sorry I didn't mean to paint a dark cloud there, I just hate to see anyone make the mistakes I did. I was very stiff the next day but I got better and at 23 of course thought I was indestructable. I had no use for lawyers/authorities and I didn't play the 'I'm injured' part very well. In the end I hired a not very good lawyer and all I got hardly covered the work I missed and eventually I've spent over $30,000 out of pocket on surgery/treatment and that's with insurance. I think and wish you will have good health but getting some legal advice now couldn't hurt. Again, my very best wishes to you sir!...and let us know how you're doing mate
gday
Louie
your right Louie and thanks for letting me know your story, my backs already stuffed and it wasnt affected at all which is surprising, but im keeping an eye on things, kind regards ken
Glad your ok Ken, There's plenty of people out there driving around totally oblivious to what's going on around them, plus the ones who just don't give a shit about road rules and run stop signs, red lights etc.... You gotta be on the lookout all the time.
His insurance should cover the cost of fixing your bike, but if he doesn't have it, don't let him fool you into thinking that these bikes aren't worth much because of their age. I've got 3rd party fire and theft insurance on mine through Suncorp and was actually looking at the policy the other day and noticed it's valued at $4001,which would be what the market value is. I payed $4000 for it going on 4 yrs ago, so it's holding its value pretty well.
Anyway parts are still available so shouldn't be off the road too long.
Tony.
thanks Tony, your not wrong about the way some folk drive, shouldnt be off the road for long , been a day now, lol
its strange , when the family go away you miss them, its the same with my bike, see ya ken
Hey Ken, that sucks . Hope u come out of it ok. I hate the early morning smash up derby when the young tradies race to work in their V8 utes. Sends shivers down my spine
thanks stua, im ok, i know what you mean about the early smash up, theres a roundabout not far from home and in peak hour its a series of near missus with the occasional ding.
