...before taking the forks off my 89 today....I thought it a good idea to measure how much tube is sticking out above the top tree and clip-ons (handlebars) so that i can return it to same location,of course. hmm...one side is 3 1/6 higher...not much i know..but questions is is that how its suppose to be? i imagine not... i know for fact its how it came new...unless one leg slipped up over the years...which i doubt. I aSSume that the front end, being independent of each other, the axle would find its natural level or center..so handling and tire wear wouldnt hasnt been a concern. Maybe bike was assembled at dealer on a friday, about 4:55 PM. :unknown:

What is that measurement again? I hope it's not inches...
I did a double take on that as well, I translated it to 3/16.
All will be well when you put her back together. Did you notice any weird tire wear or tracking problems ? At any rate it will be good when you put the forks back in. Here is a You Tube vid that might be of interest.

yeah...thats an oops...sorry,and yes,3/16 off. thanks for the video George...no wear issues and bike tracks straight...looks straight. While the video procedure appears not awfully complicated, i dont have a center stand but if thats the only way to get it rite, i will figure a way to do it...that said...when i put it back together, is that the only or preferred way on an FJ too ? thanks
