Been a long time, I"ve been so disgruntled about my bike I haven't felt like posting pics of it just sitting in my driveway collecting dust.
So, for those who don't remember, I had issues with some broken exhaust studs. 4 to be exact. Couldn't find a shop within 100 miles willing to work on it and didn't have the confidence to do it myself. :dash2:
Well, about 2 months ago I was contacted by a guy on my local forum, the Bay Area Riders Forum or BARF who said that he was wiling to wok on it, and at no charge for all that I did for the local community, racers, and BARF itself. I was amazed, I couldn't possibly believe there were people in the world who were that ncie, and was convinced it was some dastardly plan to steal my bike from me. :shok:
Well the guy came through and fixed my bike. He even picked it up and delivered it to me at no cost. :yahoo:
Today was my first day with it, planned on replacing the front tire and going for a ride. Put it up on the center stand, used my front stand to lift the front tire up and started removal. As soon as I got the tire off, the stand slipped out dropping the front to the ground and pinning my leg. As I got my leg out, the center stand fell and the whole bike dropped on it's side :dash1:
I somehow managed to get it back upright, and with some help, got the front off the ground enough to get a jack under which I used to lift it up and get the center stand back down. No major damage, well, ok, that's a lie. The front fender cracked, the exhaust seems to be bent slightly as the center stand rubs against it about halfway down and up, not enough I can't use it but enough that I need to look at it closer. And lastly, a turn signal seems to have cracked it's mount and is now wiggly, but that's not major IMO. Worst part, upon getting it back up, I noticed another broken exhaust stud laying on the ground. :dash2: :dash2: :dash2:
So, in a disgruntled rage, I took the tire down to get replaced, and when I got back, used some weight and a tow strap to hold the rear down while I reinstalled the front tire.
Why am I posting all this? Well I'm hoping that someone out there in FJ land has a bead on a newish front fender for a 1990 FJ 1200, or knows what years are the same so I can try to find one on ebay. It is a two piece, and I've seen a few rear pieces, but no front pieces. The bike looks kind of cool with the naked front wheel actually but I still want to put the fender back on.
The guy who fixed the studs before is going to fix the newly broken one, and replace the remaining ones just to be safe, but not until next year after Xmas.

All years FJ front fender will fit, just the color changed.
I'm pretty sure that Randy, http://www.rpmracingca.com (http://www.rpmracingca.com) has some years/colors of the front part.

Look at it this way- You could have just bought the bike in that state. The bracket that holds the can on probably bent. Rubber malet. I got my bike, both front directional brackets look like they were bent, fixed and then bent again. The PO's droped it on each side at least twice.

Send the broken fender parts to me, I need the welding practice. I bought a plastic welder after skymasteres gave me lessions in plastic welding. It is not that hard really. This is good if you already have an air compressor.

I chose the one with one less thing to fail. When the blower fails, the tool is useless. I am sure the other welder works just as well.
