Just thought I would drop in a new thread to say hi.
I am picking up a new to me 1984 FJ1100 this weekend.
Bone stock, no mods at all. 14k original owner miles.
Plans are to tear it down this winter and update A LOT of stuff on the bike.
First to go will be the swingarm, forks, wheels, shock, entire tail section, and all fairings.
Plan is to build a naked street cruiser.
This isn't my first bike, but definitely my first "upright" bike.
Ive built a lot of bikes- F4i, ZX7R, SV650's (multiple), 600RR, TL1000R, and a few 2wd quads.
I am pretty excited about this build.
Ill post pics after I pick it up this weekend (pending no rain!) :good2:
Welcome to the group ! Lots of good times and help here. It's a worldwide forum and ton's of experience with FJ's from race cars, customs, restored, drag bikes, and updated. Chip in anytime ! Pictures are great !!

Picked up the bike today.
It was as advertised.
Started right up in 29* weather.
Engine sounds strong.
Brought it home for now, Ill bring it to my shop at the end of the month.
Probably start the tear down in January.

Looks like it is good shape. Nice find.
very nice find! many FJ owners (myself included) believe the 84 is the best looking of the FJ model.
I'm hoping you fall in love with it as it is before you take a torch to it. Take a look at Pats 84 in the
member gallery. his bike is a superb example of a highly modified 84 yet staying true to the bikes
natural beauty. its not hard to find his bike, look in the most viewed section.
regardless, looks like you found a nice one. Congrats and welcome.

Looks like you found a nice looking FJ. 1984 FJ1100's seam to be the most rare to find in nice, unmolested condition. Are you sure you wouldn't want to consider keeping it all stock? I'm a little partial to all original motorcycles. Anyway, enjoy your new bike! :good2:
Welcome to the group. :hi: Looks like you found a very nice 1100.
As for the fairing/fender/and other plastic parts. You will find no problem having members here that would be more than happy to take them off your hands.

Quick update.
Bike is now in my shop. I started tearing it down, and going through what parts I have left over from previous builds.
Parts I will have available for sale within the next couple weeks:
-front fairing
-entire tail section
-subframe
-swing arm (complete)
-forks/trees
-calipers
-wheels
-stock exhaust
So far plans are:
-GSXR forks, wheel, caliper, trees
-custom subframe and tail
-GSXR swingarm and wheel
-custom exhaust i will fab up
-paint
-custom tail and head lights (swaps from other bikes most likely)
-powdercoat frame? (maybe....lets see how much I chop off of it)
-Pull cylinder head, fresh valve job, inspect cylinders and pistons, maybe a hone and new rings
I actually like the stock color scheme on the tank. I may keep that and try to play off it.
Ill be sure to start a build thread as well once I get more work on it, and have some pics to start rolling.
Welcome aboard. There are plenty of people who would love to get their hands on many of your parts. Keep posting as you go along. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
