Title: Plugged my engine
Post by: Joe Sull on December 02, 2013, 06:37:11 PM
Made plugs for all the ports in my engine to get it ready for pressure washing.

The intake ports have a piece of Naugahyde under the wood to make a seal.

This $3 kneeling pad had the thickness I needed for the exhaust, generator and the starter ports.

The plug fits snug in the dia and seals against that face inside.

I just need to make two little plugs for the oil cooler ports and she'll be ready.

I set up a carb rebuilding station with overhead lights and started dismantling also.

After you wash, is that when you are going to start polishing? I would be interested in seeing the tools you are going to using to get that done.

I had a thought of doing that once, but then I look at the amount of work and knew I would never finish it if I started down that road.

Is that an old exhaust gasket stuck in that exhaust port?

Be sure to get 4 new ones from Randy before re-installation of the header pipes!

Im working on that Randy. This little concept has came a long way. It needs to work just right. The little abs disc is c'sk so that the disc can tilt as you press down. I need to replace the wing nut with a locking nut and the spring needs a little more. I'm going to put a neoprene pad on it to. Contact cement as an ahesive. I'm painting the cylinder block so I just want to pressure wash to get the loose black paint out from between the fins.

After I perfect this little sanding wheel I'll make a smaller one to fit in the dremmel. The bosch drill is very high speed. I use it as a little lathe to make screws for my firearms. If I can work the areas I want to polish down to 600 grid I can polish easily.
