Title: 1989 FJ1200 DECALS GOLD
Post by: btxbikes on November 21, 2013, 12:46:55 PM
Hello to all..I have an 89 fj blue / gold that is in amazing condition with only 20k miles. The paint and original decals are all fine except for the rear cowling decal..Any idea where I can get just the rear decal, and not have to spend a fortune on the whole kit? I am also looking for the braided brake lines for the rear as well..
thank you for your time

I've used these guys a couple of times:

http://www.xtremedecals.com/default.tpl?cart=138506896912492329&id1=145&id2=200&startat=1&--woSECTIONSdatarq=200&--SECTIONSword=ww1 (http://www.xtremedecals.com/default.tpl?cart=138506896912492329&id1=145&id2=200&startat=1&--woSECTIONSdatarq=200&--SECTIONSword=ww1)

you can chose the colour and size that you require for individual decals, or get a complete set........whatever you choose.
they are very good quality and can be clearcoated.

I like these.  The banjo's allow to be rotated which makes installation easier and the lines are of excellent quality.  They are little more $$$ than some.   http://www.spieglerusa.com/brakes/cycle-brake-line-kits.html] http://www.spieglerusa.com/brakes/cycle-brake-line-kits.html (http://[url)

I just made some for my FJ.  88-9 model black and gold. Mine is layered black grey gold. Will post some pictures very soon. I'm also making them to sell. There not printed. Digital printing has a life span of approximately 3 years. I made the Original YAMAHA decal using the bellypan as the template. Took many hours as I wanted it perfect. The ones that have been put up on this posting by others aren't made to original specs. Not many people have the originals  as all the lettering is all different sizes. They are not standard letters. I Have sold a few on eBay in the last week. I Haven't tested them in the way of clear coating yet. Can do them though if anyone's interested but keep in mind they haven't been tested as far as painting goes. Strange thing is the tanks cleared but the bellypan isn't. . I can do the YAMAHA in any size. $5.00 each in the original size approx 300mm long. I purchased an original FJ sticker in   black, grey and gold from a guy in the uk. This became my template. Also if anyone is interested. I just made using the 3M CLEAR CAR BRA product an FJ clear sticker protector for the fairing. Also the FJ1200 on the side covers IN CLEAR as well as the FJ1200 sticker in grey and gold. The clear sticker covers the decal so it doesn't get damaged by stones birds hit scratched or whatever. Just installed them on my bike yesterday. Looks lovely and shiny. Again $5.00 each if anyone's interested.  I will put pictures up in the next couple of days  The other things I just did is the protector for the gold/silver stripe that goes around the full front of the fairing. I did this as the stripes are no longer available from Yamaha. So I want to preserve them. I Can make up a set of 2 stripe  protectors for the front fairing for $10 plus postage. The FJ STICKER CLEAR PROTECTORS  $10 a pair. Cheap insurance. Easy to apply as well. Instructions will be sent with them.  I'm also looking at doing the stripes in as close as possible colors but it's not cheap material. If anyone's interested my email is stickersbyjeff@gmail.com  IM DOING THIS AS ITS ALL ABOUT PRESERVING WHAT I HAVE AS ONCE ITS DAMAGED ITS GONE FOREVER. CANT BY THE ORIGINALS ANYMORE.

Dan, I looked at a 1350 graphic but it didn't look right, so I rounded up to 1400.
Yamaha does it XJR1300 (actually a 1250) as does Suzuki ('busa) etc, so I suppose it's ok if I do it..

FJ1400. Something about the double zeros....they look at home on the FJ

You're going to really, really enjoy the torque on that motor.

Yah I just didn't wanna exaggerate. But your right FJ1400r does sound and look better.

Jeff,
Sorry that it's taken so long to get back to you.  I wanted to upload a picture with my thanks to you, but now that I have the time to do so, I 'm having trouble with uploading pics on the site.  Nonetheless, great job with the stripe for the lower fairing for my blue '89.  They are perfect, and went on without a hitch.  As you had told me before purchasing, the gray/ silver would not fade to gold like the OEM, but I would never notice.  It looks perfect with just the silver / grey color.  I'd say it's an exact replica size and shape. It truly looks OEM.  When I'm able, I'll post a pic.  Thanks for the great service and great price as well.  They arrived in perfect shape.

Mark Martin

Edit--it worked! Here it is...

After re-reading my post from last night, I'd like to clarify what I wrote.  This should read " As you had told me before purchasing, the gray/ silver would not fade to gold like the OEM.   I would have never noticed. "

Jeff did not tell me that I would not notice.  I'm saying that I would not have noticed had he not told me.

I just wanted to clear that up.  Hopefully Jeff reads this disclaimer before the original post.  My bad. :wacko1:
