Title: Thank you...
Post by: ApriliaBill on November 10, 2013, 06:42:44 PM
I haven't been on here in a while, but I haven't forgotten all the good info you guys passed on to me. My son called me a few minutes ago, very excited. After acquiring a garage SV650 with few miles on it, I passed my FJ600 on to my son, who evidently met several of you today riding the Snake, up by the Rockstore. So for those guys of you who ran into Shawn today, that's my boy...Thanks for being cool to him, he's pretty excited and will probably be on this site soon.

That was Capt'n Ron, myself and a lesser known Karl. When your son walked up to our bikes with a huge grin on his face we knew that he was no stranger to the FJ. Then he floored us when he said he was riding an FJ600. That quickly move the conversation to his bike, having never seen one in person. He was pleasant to talk with and I was thrilled to see the equivalent of a Yetti or hen's teeth. I will post up some pics soon.

Hey Bill!
We had a great ride today and a clear highlight was meeting Shawn and that oh so rare FJ600!  Your boy was a pleasure to meet and would be a welcome addition to any of our rides!  :hi:

And here I keep missing all these fun rides because I can never seem to keep a motorcycle together. Glad you guys had a great time.

Keep it up.

The motley bunch at the tail of the Snake, very cool.

Here's that shot right-side-up so you don't have to tilt your heads:

There was a LOT of action at the Snake today...Meeting Shawn and that tres-cool FJ600...there was a Jay Leno sighting in that parking lot as we rode out (I suspect it was his Mclaren P1???)...and countless knee-draggers treating the Snake as their own personal race track.  Just perfect!

This isn't meant to be a ride report, but we then rolled over to the Camarillo airport to get some lunch.  The place was crawling with a rabid pack of Harley's and an hour wait so we moved on...  We rode over to the end of the runway to where the Ultralight hangars are located and pulled over...  I introduced myself to a couple of the local pilots and we spent some time hanging out with them:

They gave us quite the tour...a complete rundown on the small planes (technically Light Sport Aircraft), a few insights on how to just "feel" what the plane wants from you...and quite a few laughs in the process.  They got airborne on their way over to Lake Casitas:

As we watched them disappear into the distance, we were also treated to a bit of a "warbird" air show!

We rode Potrero Road on the way back and it's as stunning as ever!  We stopped by the Snake again for a quick stop and took a few pics to ham it up!  A very nice woman offered to take our picture next to our FJ's:

I took a couple of those low-angle menacing shots of my bike:

And Karl's VERY shiny '89!!!

Another great day out on the bikes!!

I'm so jealous! You lucky bastards and your California weather! My bike is already hibernating for the long winter months here in Vancouver. Only 7 more months to go...

You lucky SOB's! All the best stuff of the southland.
Well, I'll just ride the FJ to work today, (at least it's dry.)

(Since I cleaned the cat barf off the seat this morning; damn, that thing WANTS me to hate it!)   :ireful:

Well, just because it's been a little cool lately, doesn't mean that you still can't get out.  I did Klick' on Monday, and though it was on the cool side, the roads were still clean (no gravel) and dry.

Hey Feral, since you like SR14, let me suggest a good pit stop next time you come out this way. Try Backwoods Brewery in Carson for some good food and something to take home to drink. (Bring your own growler or get one of theirs.)
It's on the backside of the Carson General Store. They've made a great outdoor area, (for summer), and it's nice inside too. Excellent food, (try the Hummus plate), and great beer, (Redwood or anything else).
It's on the loop going past St. Helens.
We're in Camas, and have a shack north of Carson. (Ride year-round, barring snow or freezing rain, but winter sorta kills the fun stuff.)
Have fun. Pete.  :hi:

I know exactly of what you speak.  Unfortuneately, every time I've stopped by, it's been closed.

Depending on the the situation, I just head to either Everbody's Brewing, Solstice, Walking Man, or the Cougar Bar& Grill.

I do appreciate the heads up though.   :good:

Thanks for the offer Cap, but I'm just waiting for parts. I should have them Tuesday. Then it's off to the races...
