Damn, where would one start ? In your case I would recommend you get a factory service manual to start.  I have to ask why do you want to bypass the fuel pump relay and pump ? If you want to go to a gravity feed (the "ACME" plan  :rofl2: :rofl2:, political joke) you will need to replace the needle and seat values in the 1990 carbs also. What "black box thingey" there are 4 "black boxes under the fairing" ?
If you are trying to come up with a whole new wiring setup you might do some research as to how the Legends race cars are wired.

Even legend cars have a igniter box.

If you want your spark plugs to spark, you will need that black box thingy.

You must respect the "Black Box Thingy" & whatever you do... No matter what... Do not let the smoke out of it. Once the smoke escapes, it no worky no more. :unknown:  Some to most of those Black Box Thingy's are very pricey to replace & are usually very model specific.

I have another project bike that used to be a track bike & had been fairly stripped down. The tail section had been cut off with a Sawz-All. How do I know that the P/O used a Sawz-All? Well the Black Box Thingy has a slice from a Sawz-All blade running diagonally across the top. :wacko1: Fortunately it did not go through the box & the box still functions, although it now sports a strip of electrical tape across the wound. :mocking:

Hey Scumster did you have any luck with wiring? I want to run just the basic also, looking at the wiring diagrams its hard to tell what to get rid of.

In my signature line, there is a link to the Owners Handbook. You can down load one for free.
In the back of every handbook there is a color coded wiring diagram, specific to that year model.

Did I mention that it's free? The Owners Handbook has all sorts of useful information....for free!
