I am new to FJ1200 ownership as of last week, but I have been riding bikes the last 31 years.
I just picked up a 1992 FJ1200 with ABS. The FJ has 37K miles on her and was a one owner bike before me.

The FJ needs a few updates, such as:
Front forks re-built
Leaking clutch master cylinder
New tires
Carbs cleaned/balanced
Valves adjusted
Chin Spoiler
But all in all a really decent bike.
I am looking forward to learning quite a bit from the website and your collective knowledge!

nice ride Pete and welcome to the group..

Same weapon as mine, though yours is the ABS model. Incredibly well maintained original spec looking machine. Have fun with the mods and upgrades, although you seem to have a specimen model to work on.
Safe riding,
Conor
Nice ride Pete :good2:you must be a man of wealth and taste.....dammit, now I can't get that song out of my head. :music:

Welcome mate
Thanks guys! I feel at home already.
Here are pics of my last Yamaha. A 2005 FJR1300. Unfortunately, I hit a deer broadside at 55 MPH last fall. Bike was totaled out, and I had three weeks off from work. I mostly ride dirt these days, but am going to get back out on the street after I get the FJ1200 sorted out.
Question: What tires are you running these days for the stock rims? Selection seems kind of thin...
My old FJR1300 and me in better days:

Welcome to the site ! Nice FJ you have. One of the nice things is that you can do most f not all the work yourself and a huge data base of information !

Welcome to the group :hi:. Sorry to here about the demise of your FJR. You have found the right place to get your FJ sorted out.
For tires, the selection are quite slim for the stock wheels. Avon and Pirelli are popular brands. You may consider doing a rear wheel mod to a 17"x5.5" and then you have a huge selection of radials to choose from.
Here is a link to the most common 17"x5.5" real wheel mod. http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3380.0 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3380.0)

Welcome!
Looks just like my 92!
Before I went to 17" front and rear I ran on the Avon AV45/46 combo. Radials that got me along for about 3500 miles in the twisties....
