Yeah! But I'm planning on heading down to long beach for the Red Bull Flugtag on Saturday...
Is a Flugtag the Germanic aeronautic equivalent of a Kookaloo? :scratch_one-s_head:
Rossi
Man, that Flugtag crap just stinks, IMHO. It's a total farce, with some stupid rules designed to keep it that way.
After all, humans CAN'T fly, right?
Now the Japanese BirdMan Rallies are the
REAL DEAL. These videos show just some of the gliders. The human-powered versions can go for miles, from that ramp.
Of course, the human-powered Gossamer Albatross has crossed the English Channel (1979), launching from flat ground. Brian Allen was the engine and pilot.
For the record, this first video is a 369 meter
gliding flight that would be 1212 feet (almost 1/4 mile) long.
Flugtag is just an embarrassment, by comparison.
