Title: What are my real options for putting traditional bars on my 92?
Post by: Bminder on September 13, 2013, 11:43:24 PM
Love my FJ but the riding position is just a little too aggressive, I put RPM's risers on but I still have to lean over too far for my back, neck, and wrists, I'm 6'5".
I just spent some time looking through about half of the 60 pages of the Mod section and read a lot of strings about guys who put different front wheel/forks on and were able to put regular bars on.
But I don't have the funds to do something like that.
So what would my options be to put risers on to mount a traditional bar on?
Can I buy riser clamps and drill holes in the plate (forgot what it's called) and bolt them on it to mount bars?
Lookin' for some ideas.  I want to keep the bike.

Somebody has drilled the top plate for risers (can't find it now), but to get the bars back a bit will also help with comfort and clearance.  Take a look at this LSL option...  it is not an entirely new upper triple clamp and should be cheaper, but it does raise and relocate the riser closer to the rider.  Looks like it bolts right onto the stock triple.  It might be a good option for you...

Here is a LSL handlebar riser set on eBay Germany. The seller does ship worldwide.

Drilling into the top plate and mounting offset bar risers looks intriguing.
Thanks guys.

Are there triple top clamps from other bikes that are a bolt-on for fj's that you can put bar risers on?

Got to think the XJ600 Diversion top clamp has got to be the cheapest and fairly easy option out there...

Seems the FZ6 has the same offset as the FJ top triple clamp.

If it works out, it looks like a nice option.

This isn't that bad considering you get the master cyl.. I am not affiliated with this. Just ran across it.
