Title: Front Rim for 89 FJ1200
Post by: 1200man on September 02, 2013, 01:39:01 PM
Hey guys need help, I bent my front rim on my 89 fj1200 very badly and I'm wondering if I can replace it with the front rim of my 86 fj1200. Does anyone know if they are compatible? Just looking at it I can tell that the brake disc is different, but I'm wondering if I can put the 89 brake disc on the 86 tire rim. Help needed !!!!!!

Thanks

The 86 front rim is 16" not 17" and will not match the back. This would be going backwards. Rims can be straightened. Try posting in the parts wanted. The sought after wheel is off of FZR1000 or FZR750 86-88 it will swap with FJ wheel and is 3.50x17. Hope this helps.

I have a spare 17" original FJ 89 rim laying around which i have no use for. It has been powdercoated white and not used since.
Shoot me a price on PM if your intrested.
I am however located in Norway so shipping might be a bitch I'm afraid. .

I do recommend you follow Kurt's advice on the fzr rim. Have it my self and its worth hunting it down on eBay.
Cheers
Ken

I too have a spare 17 inch 89 front rim. I am in southern Ontario Canada. If you are nearby you can have it, as I have two which I do not need. If you want me to ship it you pay the shipping and its yours. I would however look for the 3.5 inch FZR wheel.

Thanks for the help guys, took it to a guy to try to have it repaired and he found a crack on one of the spokes. He said he could weld it , but don't want to take that chance. Will try the suggestions given to me.  FJ Johnnie might take you up on your offer because you are much closer than Norway (lol....) but will look around for those FZR rims first because I'm in Texas and I'm sure someone has it here or in Chicago which is where I'm from. Once again thanks for the help.
