Like the title says: Anson's 1989 FJ CBR250 mirrors, LSL bar kit, ROX risers and a Daytona touring bar. It's set up for an old guy with a bad back. The bars are so high now I had to put a windshield back on and the MRA works better than stock. I took the sheepskin off the (too hard) Corbin for the picture. The mirrors do stick out further than the bar end weights by about three inches(32/35inches), but they work well. If I set them correctly I have no blind spots and I can see what's behind me. I don't do much "lane sharing" in UPSTATE NY anyway so it's easy to live with. I have another photo in the gallery of straight on, but it's not a true image with the wheel cocked to the side. I know it's not for everybody, but if I didn't raise the bar this high I would have to ride something else. I rented a Harley Dyna for a long weekend a few years ago and after two and half days I was on a favorite road of mine that had just had new asphalt, it was gorgeous, and I said to myself," I wish I were on my FJ". I took the Harley straight back.

Nice work Anson! I'd love to have more pics and details on the bars and riser set up I your willing. Do the bars clear the fairing at full lock?? Did you have to get longer throttle cables and longer clutch and brake lines?? Did the kill switch and horn wires reach OK?

After very few rides I realized I had to do something or sell the bike. I put on the Speigler Brake LSL Bar Kit, (a plate, risers, aluminum 7/8 inch bar and a longer brake line). I moved the clutch "stuff" to the left side and the throttle "stuff" to the right. The bar can be positioned so that you have full lock. I found a better bar for me and the FJ clearance, Daytona Touring, black or chrome. The DT has slightly more pull back and works better plus being steel you have more choices for bar end weights and mirrors. Nine years later my back is complaining again and I found ROX pivotable risers. Originally made for adventure/dirt bikes the work well for old guys. The ROX people suggest a longer brake line and you can see the Speigler brake line from the LSL kit looks tight. I have a longer one I will add at a later date. Everything else, wires and lines are fine, but again you have to find the sweet spot where the bar does not hit the fairing. It is a little higher and further back then I wanted, but I can ride a lot longer than I could before. If it were not for my back I would not need the risers.

Thanks Anson. I'm familiar with the Rox adjustable risers, but not the LSL bar kit until now.
I'd love to be able to make my bars 'position adjustable' to suit my solo and 2-up riding. I'd sit in a more upright position riding 2-up if I could. I've got the Rox risers on my dirt bike and can move those around to suit my liking with an Allen wrench and 4 bolts. I takes all of 5 minutes. I'm not sure if it would work with your set up on the FJ. ? I know I'd have to rotate the brake and clutch hardware etc. but that's no big deal.
Do you think it is possible to move the bars forward and back like this with the set up you have now?

Hi Mark,
Forward interferes with the fairing, but then I have not fooled with them a lot. I got them to a useable position and rode. I started with them straight up and then kept leaning them towards the seat until I cleared the fairing without putting tension on the brake line. I'd like them a 1/2 inch lower so I'll be fiddling with them again after I switch the brake line.

Which Rox risers did you use? I know they make a 2" and also a 1-3/4".

For the 7/8 inch bar I only found a 2 inch riser. Shorter would work better for me...

No, I've got the 2" ROX pivoting bar risers on my dirt bike, but saw these 1-3/4"--but they are for 1-1/8" bars.
