Under the seat of my 92 FJ1200 are two canvas straps wrapped around the frame. They lay along the frame right under the seat and are a little over a foot long.
Do all the FJ's have them as standard equipment?
My '92 doesn't have them, but I'm not the original owner. I can't imagine what they would be used for...

None on the 1990.... ? Pictures??????? :wacko1:

I have owned a 85' 1100 and currently own a 89' 1200. No canvas straps on either.
I am also going to say there are no OEM canvas straps on any FJ from 84'-96'. The only OEM straps should be rubber. One to hold down the battery and one to hold in the tool pouch.
Fred
Here they are. They were looped around themselves and around the frame on either side of the battery and the ends just laying on the frame.
I bet they were for saddlebags or something. I took them off but they would be handy to strap something down with.

They look like they might have been added by a previous owner, for a tank bag, or side bags.........................or maybe for the pillion to hang on to? :good2:
Nope, I know exactly what those are...Those are called soft ties. Not oem.
Those wrap around your lower triple clamp (or the rear side cargo brackets) for something the tow straps hook on to....these nifty guys keep the metal parts of the tow straps away from your fairing and/or fork tubes.
Every bike should have a pair tucked away just in case you need to call a flatbed for a tow.
Cheers.
You nailed that one Pat! Does he win a prize?
On my big trip I ended up taking eight (8!!!!!!!!) ferries...those would have made tie-downs on the boats very simple!!
