New FJ1200 owner...1989,68,000kms and a few upgrades.....some not so good.
Pick it up Monday due to our government safety issues here in Canada, needs new rubber.
Upgrades are:
- fork springs & seals
- 17" tires
- bigger brake rotors and calipers
- SS braided brake lines
- Corbin seat
- dual exhaust (Delkevic?)
- integrated LED tail section
- 2+ windscreen
- wheel bearings
- bar risers
- home paint job :dash1:
- LED light bar strung under frame :dash2:
I had a hard time reading up on everyone's insurance rates....$1400 a year paid over riding period, May to October....that's with an extreme deduction for a perfect driving record for 27 years.
A lot of work to do but winters are long here, PO's paint job could be my only project this year....I hope.
Only have one picture from the add but will add more once I have the bike home.

Welcome mate, she looks good from the small pic ,, most of the fun mods are done for you, leaves more time to ride ,,
Cheers
Rod
Sorry I couldn't make it any bigger, the pic is from the dealer.
I will post more next week, like you said I hope to ride as much as I can before it comes apart for paint.
I think a few will get a laugh when they see it a little better....don't like to bash another persons work though.
It will be hard to wait for next Monday!
Glenn
Welcome Glen, happy to have another FJ brother in the fold...
Welcome Glenn ! She looks like a fine ride. Sounds like you got one heck of a start. The insurance cost is a pain :dash2:. Must be all you crazy Canadians raising hell on motorcycles     Moose, that's what it is, to many damn moose !
Seriously, welcome to the group Glenn lots of find people here. Don't hesitate to ask questions.
George
It's thanks to this forum that I made the decision. I am moving up from a CBR600RR that I bought new in 2006, a little nervous /excited about the FJ's power but that will lead to my respect. First looked at the bike last Friday and found amazing information on this site, seems like a great group even though you are scattered all over the world!
:drinks:
Don't worry Glen, once you are settled in we will start ribbing you on your Theft Deterrent Silver and White FJ. Then you can fire back that I am just an ambulance rider, and the shit flies like it hit the fan... Its all good fun, don't take our shit too seriously or personal. Many here understand that in person like a sitting around a campfire we can say all kinds of antagonistic stuff with a smile. The text only makes that hard to convey. Feel free to enjoy the digital Kooaklooo....
No worries here, I'm Canadian.....about as easy going as they come!
Can give and take with the best,
I feel welcome already.......winter road trip?
Thanks everyone,
Welcome to the group, :hi:
No worries on the theft deterrent paint scheme. Just means that our FJ's will be bypassed for the more common Ambulance versions. We get to ride away while they get to walk home.

Ha ha, theft deterrent! Didn't catch that in the last week, is it wrong to like the paint scheme?
I guess we all have something different that catches our eye.
It's great to have the NHL back in Winnipeg, playoffs.... Not yet sadly.
Toronto.... I think they will be there this year.
Glenn
No worries mate, even the pink stripe FJs are welcome...
Pink? Really, I have lots to learn about these things.
I bought through consignment from a dealer, PO emailed me... Has all original parts for me, exhaust, bars, tail, seat and chin/belly pan. Whoo hoo!
P.S. I read the kookazoo story on the weekend, loved it!

WOW!
I'm feelin' the love!
Welcome Glenn.
I just recently found out my pink stripe is also a member of the Ambulance brigade!
Good Luck with your new purchase!
Leon.
Kooakloo, sorry autocorrect.
Ha ha, now I want an ambulance......my leathers won't match though!
The addiction has begun. :nyam2:
Welcome Glen, let us know how we can help...and no such thing as a stupid question.
If the seller does not have a owners manual, you can down load one (free) in the Files section.
FYI, the '89's came stock with a 17" front rim, however, in looking at the small picture you posted, it appears that the rear rim on that bike is still the stock 16" rim (along with judging by the tall sidewall of the tire)
Maybe it just the angle of the picture....you may want to check that out....
Cheers. Pat

Welcome!
Don't let 'em shit ya... you don't want one of those red prototype FJs. :bomb: (popcorn)
Thanks, I'll check the tire. It's hard not having it at home! :dash2:
If I find an ambulance this winter it will be mine, don't tell my wife!
A few more pics.....back of dealers shop waiting for tires.

Good eye, the rear is 16" :negative:(http://fjowners.com/gallery/5/3623_23_08_13_11_55_46.jpeg)
I guess my winter projects have gone from paint to paint and 17" rear conversion, lots of great info on this site. Should be straight forward, order the parts and game on.
I'll keep everyone posted.
Welcome. Looks like a great score. There's a few of us popping up all over Canada. Great site, and good people. Enjoy.
Wow, picked her up at the dealers yesterday.....everything that I've read on this sight is absolutely correct! Love the low end torque/roll on power, very comfortable for a long ride ( was on it for over 4 hours last night ) and seems effortless to control. I'm a big man ( 6'4" and 235 ) the bike fits me like a glove, completley impressed with my new ride.
Your fj looks real clean, and good shape, I like the silver, plus it's so much newer than mine.
