Hi all, thinking of putting the FJ on single seat rego. Anyone got a seat they don't want or one that is modified that I can borrow?
Cheers Timbo.
how much of a saving is it , , and depending on your fj you can get special interest rego next year when she turns 30, I have a modified seat , but postage would be expensive
Single seat rego in QLD is just over half the normal rego. My FJ is a 87 so not due for classic thingies for a few years. Would you consider selling your mod seat?
Cheers Timbo.
Sorry mate, I wouldn't sell it, cost over $100 just to have it modified,
Cheers, will see if I can pick one up from a wrecker :good2: Just want to keep the seat that's on it if I need to put it back to original.

When ya get it done, can I hire that solo seat off you for say, a week? (Maybe we could set it up like Randys Shim set) :drinks:
Timbo check with Ken on FJR forum, I think you have to weld up the foot peg mounts on the rear, you cant just remove the pegs???????
you may want a second set of mounts ????
You need to buy a cheap 1984 fj 1100 for parts & use the frame, than you will have a 30 year old bike when you swap all the 1200 bits , like I'm gunna do
The one at Windsor is a bit sad & he want a grand for it, you will find better.
Hi General and Megsy, once I have a seat sorted it sure will be a loan item... :drinks: Have talked to Ken and also white tiger on FJR forum who have done both their FJR's to single seat. Rear footrests were remove and put bolts back through. Done by "mods on the go" At Toowoomba.
Don't need to carry pillion on FJ 1200, if the hand brake wants a ride will take the FJR.
Also have sorted the registration issue Megsy, 'because I imported to Aus with a pre 1989 vehicle import approval it is exempt from having to have a compliance plate or import plate fitted. :yahoo:. Seems a simple road worthy and register. :good2:
Cheers.
i just went thru the registering an import thing and i certainly had to get it complianced, it appears if you import a bike from the early 70's you'd get away with it because the records only go back to around 76 i was led to believe, anyway good luck and let us know how you get on, ken . ps ,the bloke at the dept of t'port also said to keep the import approval paper as it has to go with the bike to each new owner or you cant sell it, it becomes a parts bike if you lose it and try to sell, he said.
If you go to Aus Gov, Depart of Infrastructure &Trans, Information Brochure
""Importing vehicles to Austraila"
"The pre-1989 Scheme"
On page 10 "Once vehicle has been imported" at the end of that paragraph it clearly states...
"Once imported, vehicles are not fitted with identification plates or used import plates."
PS. If modified in any way yes perhaps may need a mod plate fitted.
ok, no worries, let us know how you get on
